a. Create a picture rhyming worksheet. 1. The worksheet should have 5-10 different pictures of rhyming words from the book. 2. Make two columns on the worksheet having the rhyming words on opposite sides. 3. For upper grades, you can do rhyming words instead of pictures, or do both words and pictures. b. Discuss with the class all the different pictures on the page so they know exactly what each picture is. c. Have the students draw a line from one rhyming word to the other.
a. During center time (if you don't have center time I would suggest splitting the class into groups of about 5). b. At one center make Green Eggs and Ham, let the students help if they can. 1. They can take turns stirring, or adding the green food coloring. c. After you are done making Green Eggs and Ham let the students try some. d. Have a discussion about trying new things, ask if they have ever tried something new, and talk about their experience. e. Encourage the students to always try new things because they never know what they will miss.
a. After reading The Foot Book, have a discussion with the class about self esteem, and not making fun of others for how they look. b. Have the students talk about times when someone wasn't nice to them, and how it made them feel. c. This discussion time is to encourage positive behavior, allow the conversation to cover many different topics with in being nice. Giving the students some freedom to discuss what they feel is important will help them understand the point you are trying to make. Of course, make sure the discussion stays on topic though! |
